ASSOCIATE RESEARCH SCIENTIST

Dr. Hylde Zirpoli is an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an expert in preclinical omega-3 fatty acid research. Dr. Zirpoli has built her academic career on defining the transcriptional regulation of key genes and pathways related to fatty acid and lipid metabolism. She has focused her research on elucidating key molecular mechanisms involved in acute hypoxic-ischemic injuries, both in brain and heart.

Dr. Zirpoli has been a major co-Investigator on several NIH grants and her findings in the field of omega-3 fatty acids and hypoxic-ischemic injuries have resulted in an impressive publication record in renowned scientific journals and awards for her research by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

Dr. Zirpoli earned a degree in Pharmacy followed by a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry and Pharmacology at the University of Salerno.
